Phonics

At Crofton Hammond we follow the Bug Club Phonic Scheme.  This is a rigorous programme that allows children to develop a secure knowledge of sounds; digraphs and trigraphs, alongside 'tricky words' to support their independent reading.  The scheme gives the children the opportunity to access online interactive books at home set specifically to their level and books to take home that address specific sounds they have learnt about that week.  It also provides a comprehensive assessment system to ensure children make progress as swiftly as possible.
