At Crofton Hammond Infant School, our rich and inclusive PDL curriculum nurtures children's emotional wellbeing, resilience, and understanding of healthy relationships. Through direct emotional literacy teaching, Philosophy for Children (P4C), and cross‑curricular links to RSE and Science, pupils learn to value themselves and others, recognise their emotions, and develop strategies to self‑regulate. Our ‘Bounce’ programme and the support of our dedicated ELSA ensure every child feels safe, heard, and supported. Events like ‘Keeping Safe’ week and assemblies promote safeguarding and British values, while strong home‑school links keep families engaged in their child’s personal development journey.
We use the SCARF curriculum from Coram Life Education to provide a consistent, values‑based framework for Personal Development Learning. SCARF—standing for Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship—supports children’s wellbeing, healthy relationships and personal safety through structured, age‑appropriate lessons. It aligns closely with our school ethos and enhances the high‑quality personal development experiences we offer every child.
